Yay snow! Yay snow before Christmas! Yay snow before Christmas in Delaware because this never really happens!
We had a few snowy days here in Delaware, which is not very common for this time of year. I love the snow, its so pretty, but it can be quite a pain in the a*& too. This past weekend I was in NJ/NYC with some of my girlfriends. We had a great weekend, except for the hour drive from the train station back to Delaware on Sunday turned into a 6 hour drive because it snowed like crazy here in the Philly region. Saw plenty of cars that ran off the road, luckily I was not one of them. And luckily I had my girlfriend with me to keep me entertained for hours as we inched our way home. All that being said, I’m still hoping for a white Christmas!!
My life seems to be all about the wedding. We are 100 days away (holy moly!) so there are a lot of things still left to do. Figuring out the logistics is not very fun, but I do get a sense if accomplishment when we make a decision on something.
It’s Dave birthday weekend, so we get a bit of a break from wedding stuff to play in the snow and enjoy the company of friends. I’m a little annoyed with all the snow we have gotten this year (not so much total snow, its the # of days its snowed), but I’m sure being able to play in the snow like a kid will reaffirm my love.
Wow, only a 100 days to go. Exciting and a bit nerve racking at the same time.
SNOW SNOW SNOW!
There is tons of snow outside. All they talk about on TV is snow. All my pictures of are snow. I’m starting to get sick of the snow!
I have been hoping for a snowy winter, but I didn’t want this! Guess it is true, be careful what you wish for.
After the storm this weekend, our street didn’t get plowed until early Tuesday morning. Check out the before and after:
That only last a day. Here is the latest from today
Hope it’s sunny and warm where you are. Check back tomorrow, I’ll update my flickr account with lots of snow pictures from this past weekend!
Another big snow storm is going to hit the mid-atlantic today going into tomorrow. It’s already snowed twice this past week and after this big storm this weekend, it might snow sometime next week. For the mid-atlantic, its been a crazy winter. Here are some cool pictures I found that seem to go with the weather.
#1, #2, #3, & #4
Of course Phil would see his shadow, we got snow this weekend and it’s snowing this evening, with more snow this weekend. Guess DC is the actually North Dakota, I must have missed that memo!
Speaking of weekend, Dave and had a pretty fun time playing tourist this past weekend. We hung out Friday night till the wee hours of the night with some of his college friends in Adam’s Morgan. Jumbo slice pizza, you are oh so tasty!
Then on Saturday morning we headed to the Capitol as we have reserved tickets for a tour. The new visitor center is lovely and I was probably the only on in the theater that wanted to watch the intro 13 minute video again (I love history!). One doesn’t get to go inside the chambers, but I’m sure if you get a tour through your Congress person you can see a few other areas of the Capitol.
After dining a la college dining hall Congress style, we decided to follow the tunnel that led us to the Library of Congress. One of my goals in life (sad?) is to touch, look, read a book from the Library of Congress. Dave and I had gone a few months before to get our reader cards and once you have that, all the books in the world are at your finger tips. So we had access to the main reading room, found a couple books, explored while we waited for our books, and then read for a bit. It was so awesome! The Library of Congress is the coolest library ever! The building is also lovely, so if you don’t get a reader card, its worth just checking out the building that is open to the public. Sneaky picture taking:
All the while it was snowing outside
Sunday was a relax-and-do-nothing kind of day. Hope you enjoyed the weekend!
We are having a chili cook-off at work this week. I’ve entered the contest, the prize money is worth the try. I’ll let you know how it goes and just may share my recipe.
Off to enjoy some LOST!
The weekend before I left for CA, we had a massive snow storm here on the east coast. Here’s a couple pics Dave and I took while out and about on the snow
My trip home to CA for the holidays was fun. Most times it seems like there isn’t a whole lot of activity going on, but sometimes it’s just nice to hang around with family and not really do much. My mom, Jim, Daisy, Grandma, aunt, Dale, and 2 cousins where all around. We had our New Mexican meal on Christmas Eve (posole, red chile, tamales, and tortillas) and then opened our presents. Here is a picture of Daisy inspecting one of my presents, she is the official inspector of quality
Christmas day we all went to church and then enjoyed our Christmas meal. Yes, we had the whole fixin’s – turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes with red chile, and pink stuff!
The rest of the vacation was spent playing Mexican train, some Wii, watching movies, hitting up the after Christmas sales, and eating like I’ve never seen food before. I did run one day, the last full day I was there. Not sure why I didn’t get out the days before because the weather out there was fantastic, in the 50’s. The day I got back to the east coast, it was 30 with a wind chill making it feel like 20 degrees out. Brrr!
I miss my family, especially Daisy! Here’s a few pictures of Daisy. Best. Dog. Ever!
We have at least 14″ of snow so far here in Delaware. Look for pictures to come!
P.S. I’m writing this from my new laptop. I got a Sony Vaio, it’s so awesome!
